Born from the metal and hardcore soul of Norway, COMBICHRIST is the brainchild of Andy LaPlegua. Creating music for much of his life, Andy began his musical empire fronting two highly respected (but very Norway-inclusive) bands: Fleshfire, who split up after releasing an EP, and Lash Out. While playing with Lash Out, Andy felt constricted within the organic side of hardcore and metal and decided it was time to branch out work in electronics and dance beats… which began the influential and seminal band Icon Of Coil. Originally a solo adventure, Andy soon added Sebastian Komor and Christian Lund and it became Andy’s first project to be released in the US through Philadelphia’s Metropolis Records.
Andy started to explore harsher, less pop-driven sounds and, in 2003, he signed to seminal German electronic label Out of Line and released The Joy Of Gunz, an album that highlighted his darker, harder-hitting material. This was the first release under the name Combichrist. A new creature had been created, conceived and let loose, ready to devour all who stood in its way. LaPlegua may have been in the driver's seat but Combichrist had a mind of its own. By the end of 2004 there were two more Combichrist EPs: Kiss The Blade and Sex Drogen Und Industrial.
Their second full-length album, Everybody Hates You, released in March 2005, marked another milestone in Andy’s career as it was the first Combichrist US release through Metropolis Records. Everybody Hates You featured the now-legendary club hits “This Sh*t Will Fcuk You Up” and “This Is My Rifle” as well as 11 other hard electronic/techno classics. The success of Everybody Hates You led to the band’s successful US tour (and their sold-out headlining appearance at the Los Angeles Industrial Festival at The Avalon in Hollywood in July, 2005).
Fueled by the musical adrenaline of touring, Andy was able to unleash a new EP Get Your Body Beat at the end of 2006. The eponymous single proved such a success it gave Combichrist their first Billboard Chart position – six weeks in the Dance Singles Top 10!
Combichrist returned in March of 2007 with their third full-length release What The Fuck Is Wrong With You People, which contained the aforementioned “Get Your Body Beat”, the now-classic title track as well as club staples “Electrohead” and “Deathbed”. A triumphant return to the Hollywood Avalon was included in the 2007/2008 tour which took Combichrist across the US, continental Europe, the Eastern Bloc and Australia.
Andy rested for probably all of ten minutes and, in May of 2008, joined former Metropolis act Mindless Self Indulgence for a series of dates in the Southern US in support of the new release “Frost EP: Sent To Destroy”. The EP featured the single “Sent To Destroy,” which would later make its appearance as the first single and video for their upcoming next album.
Circa late Fall 2008, Andy has put the finishing touches on his latest opus, Today We Are All Demons, an album immersed in not only the trademark fire and burn of Combichrist of yore but adding a newfound sense of urgency and dynamics. Today We Are All Demons sees Combichrist meshing old sounds with new, creating a whole new direction for the band. From the propulsive and expansive “All Pain Is Gone” to the sultry stomp of “Can’t Change the Beat” to the jackhammer-pound of “Get Out of My Head”, the album rips through beats, bass and rhythm, creating an aggro genre that crisscrosses rock, metal, industrial, and underground dance.
Combichrist’s Today We Are All Demons will be released in the US January 20, 2009 via Metropolis Records/Out Of Line. Full tour is being planned for Winter/ Spring 2009.
In 1978, Dirk started as singer and guitar player in the punk band
Slaughterhouse, but broke up the group one year later to form the more new wave
minded project The Few.
Influenced by bands like Suicide and Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft and the UK electronic scene, he appears from 1980 on under the name Absolute Body Control on several compilations. The first single Is There An Exit ? became a local underground hit. The line-up changed very soon but with Eric Van Wonterghem he finds himself a partner for the next coming years regarding mixing, producing and collaborating.
In 1985, the Absolute Controlled Clinical Maniacs, a project with members of three Belgian bands, were invited to do a tour in Norway. When they returned, they changed their name to The Klinik. Dirk was a member of The Klinik until 1991. When they decided to split up, they already built themselves a very good live reputation with their unique sound and visual gigs and became, besides Front 242 and The Neon Judgement, one of the biggest names in the Belgian electonic/industrial scene. Even today they are still an influence for many young bands.
In 1990, Dirk released a self-titled solo album under the name Dive. It was released on his own label Body Records. The album was very primitive, harsh and experimental, with lyrics about hope, death, love and fear, but hits like 10000 volts. This was the start of many products with an evolving sound. With a minimum on equipment, Dirk creates a maximum of power. His sound is copied by a lot of newcomers in the last couple of years and he proved on many stages that less means more.
In 1996, Dirk starts Sonar with the aim to create rhythmical noise and dark soundscapes. The music is created with a combination of analogue and digital instruments. The rhythms remind to working machines, the soundscapes to droning planes. The sound of Sonar is made to make you move in another way, to tune you into a hypnotic beat. It is a straightforward sound which goes further on classic industrial but never without an extra dimension of powerful dynamics and tuned electronics. Sonar is looking for a contemporary definition of danceabe industrial and tries to discover this by controlling electronic devices.
Gigs worldwide, touring in Japan, Canada, USA, Europe, important festivals like Eurorock, Zillo, Wave-Gotik Treffen, Dour festival, collaborations with Controlled Bleeding, Kirlian Camera, Sigillum S, Ivan Iusco and Francoise Duvivier, his Daft Records label, a sideproject as Blok 57, touring with bands like Sigillum S, Esplendor Geometrico, Kirlian Camera, Vomito Negro, Neither Neither World, Monolith, Suicide Commando, Insekt, Numb, Noisex, Black Lung and Stereo Taxic Device, combined with an impressive discography makes that Dirk is still one of the leaders of the Belgian (Worldwide ?) electronic scene of today.
Alien Vampires was founded by Nysrok in the year 2000. In 2003 they produce the ``Dead Fuck You`` demo featuring Simone ``Hellvis`` Salvatori (Spiritual Front). In 2005 Nightstalker joins the band sharing the same passion for artists like Jam Montoya which will affect the entire concept behind Alien Vampires. In 2006 it was time for the debut album ``Evil Generatio``. In the year 2007 the band records the MCD ``Nuns are Pregnant`` fallowed by the album ``No one here gets out alive`` released by BLC Productions (USA).
In 2009 they released ``Fuck off and die`` featuring Johan Van Roy (Suicide Commando) and In Slaughter Native (intro). The same year saw the band involved in the ``Foad`` tour and performing in Las Vegas (With Deadly Sevan a well know band produced by AV), Los Angeles, Mexico, Peru, Lithuania and great part of Europe.
Decoded Feedback burst on to the industrial scene in the mid 1990s with the highly acclaimed self-titled demo tape Decoded Feedback. This creative duo brought together all the elements and contrasts that exist between the sexes, and at the same time using their diverse backgrounds, European and Canadian, to successfully create their own unique sound. This proved to be a powerful combination. After an amazing review in Belgium’s Side-Line magazine, Decoded Feedback was picked up immediately by one of Europe’s leading industrial labels, Hard Records.
1996 marked the year of their first CD release entitled Overdosing. The quality and power of Overdosing opened more doors for Decoded Feedback, capturing the attention of not just the industrial community, but also of Europe's leading electro label, Zoth Ommog, who arranged to release the band's second CD Technophoby in 1997. This CD later came to the attention of America's leading industrial label, Metropolis Records, who soon after became Decoded Feedback’s official North American label. The band’s third CD Bio-Vital was released in 1998 and instantly hit the German Alternative Charts (DAC). Decoded Feedback was also voted one of the best groups on Zoth Ommog. EVOLution marked their fourth release and demonstrated their growth and established position in the electronic community. This CD brought together a perfect mix of Industrial and EBM, pulling you in and enveloping you into the interwoven dance floor textures and symphonic melodies.
In 2000, Decoded Feedback signed to the up and coming German label, Bloodline. Reflect in Silence was Marco and Yone’s first single which was released in Sept 2000 to critical acclaim. The full length CD Mechanical Horizon was released soon after. This CD pulled together all of the elements that had now become the famous Decoded Feedback sound, but added some new touches. More elaborate sequences, less distorted vocals, richer soundscapes. It perfectly demonstrated the versatility of this Italian/Canadian band. 2001 was the year of touring, festivals and studio production. In April, they headlined a European tour with Noisex, Sonar and Re/Work. In August they participated in their first European festival, Eurorock 2001. 2002 was a year dedicated to hard work in the Defcode Lab studio preparing for their next release.
2003 marked the year of a powerful return to their roots and a change in European record companies. DF is now signed to Out of Line. Phoenix and Shockwave show a return to a harder, more minimalist sound. Very edgy and powerful, reminiscent of Technophoby and Bio-Vital. Phoenix and Shockwave were so well received that Decoded Feedback embarked on a full European tour with Haujobb in May/June 2003. On May 5th, Shockwave hit the DAC (Deutsche Alternative Charts) at number 4. Shockwave stayed on the DAC charts for 7 weeks. It entered the charts at number 4 and stayed in the top 3 positions, along with Marilyn Manson and Linkin Park, for 6 weeks reaching number 1 on week 22. Shockwave had the honour of being voted #3 Top International Album of 2003 on the DAC.
2004 proved to be a very productive and exciting year. Decoded Feedback embarked on yet another European tour in February/March, this time with support group God Module. The huge success of this tour brought Decoded Feedback to the attention of Europe’s biggest festival M’era Luna in Germany, where they played in August. To round up this very successful year, Decoded Feedback was invited to play an exclusive show in Mexico City at the renowned DadaX club.
2005 has been an extremely productive and exciting year so far. Combustion was released worldwide in September to rave reviews. Decoded Feedback were a huge hit at 2 major festivals: Infest 2005 (UK) and Blacksun Festival (USA). They will wrap up this exciting year co-headlining the Out of Line festival tour in Germany in November with Blutengel. A full European and North American tour are planned for spring 2006.
Synapscape started back in 1994 during experimental sessions of Tim, Phil and Hell- G. They just wanted to release a tape but certain circumstances made it possible that they released the first Ant- Zen CD album ever. Since then various albums have been released (latest one: 'now' released in 2007) and for sure there are some more planned to come. They also played lots of live shows in Europe and also some in the U.S.. Playing in Montreal will be the first time for them in Canada. Their music can be described as electronic rhythm industrial variing from simple to complex.
Formed in 2004, FGFC820 is the harsh EBM project from well-known and respected New York City DJs, Rexx Arkana and Dräcos. Drawing on joint and separate influences ranging from old school industrial to modern gabber, Arkana and Dräcos combine to create a sound that is at once melodic and relentlessly rhythmic, "bringing the 'thump' back to EBM", as one reviewer recently put it.
In addition to his 24 years of experience as both a DJ and promoter, Rexx Arkana is also the founder of the scene supergroup Bruderschaft. A collaboration of some of the electronic music world's top talents, Bruderschaft drew together, under Arkana's leadership, members of VNV Nation, Covenant, Apoptygma Berzerk and Icon of Coil in a charitable effort to benefit cancer research and treatment. As an artist in his own right, Arkana has also written lyrics and/or recorded vocals for such prominent underground acts as The Retrosic (New World Order), Neikka RPM (Storm of Hell), and davaNtage side project, Supreme Court (Mass Media Murder).
Already in their early years Joe and Daniel were experimenting with different music genres and found their destination in electronic music. Soon their first output "Demo Lition" was taking the dancefloors by storm. SAM was born. Shortly after the first, self-titled debut album "Synthetic Adrenaline Music" was being released by the Pro Noize label from the Dark Dimensions family. With their clubhit "24 Stunden" SAM entered the German Alternative Charts (DAC) and several other disco- and webcharts. That was in 2006.
After a short time of absence and development SAM started working on their new release "Destruction Unit", which is probably being released in June 2008. After the pause, it seems that the music is more powerfull and agressive than ever!
The new album features 12 new brute dancefloor-tracks as well as exclusive remixes by top acts like Soman, Xotox, Reaper, C/A/T and Modulate. The perfect start for a powerfull year 2008!
After his success with ZOMBIE GIRL, ICON OF COIL and BRUDERSCHAFT, renowned
producer Sebastian R. Komor strikes again with this new hard-hitting guerrilla
project – something he really had to get out of his system!
The heaviest project he’s ever done, KOMOR KOMMANDO is aggressive and loud, laden with a cynical sarcastic flair and wit! Pounding rhythms to assault your senses, plus a bit of a cheeky humour and socio-political bite. 100% club hit guaranteed – including the floor-packing “Das Oontz”, “Love Your Neighbour” and “Triggerfinger”.
KOMOR KOMMANDO have set their sights on the world of hard upbeat electronic power industrial, with one sole aim: domination and provocation. The time has come to run for shelter and defer to a new reign of electronic warfare. Play at maximum volume!
...over-caffienated and dazed, awake without want, time brings about a collection of schizophrenic pieces crossing the calm ambience of sound scapes to the chaos of beats and bass brought about by the deeper thoughts of electronic arts created by EDGEY. Coming from the rise and fall of many genre's of electronica, never leaving his roots behind, EDGEY has managed to take the best from the past, while pushing the envelope of sound into the future. Working in the past veins of Industrial, Hardcore, Broken beats, Techno, Noise, IDM and Ambience, this genre-bending experience has proved to be most-valuable in his creation to push the realm of Drum n bass to it's varying extremes, all the while maintaining an originality, quality and emotion that lets any listener know: "This is EDGEY.”
"This producer's work is characterized by dense rhythmical violence, which is on his better days married to some sublime ambience, and on his worse days, married to almost nothing at all.” excerpt from FWD of raw42, a statement that clearly defines the nature of sound. Taking the Internet scene by storm, EDGEY has drawn fans worldwide, with well more than half a million downloads, individually selling numerous CD's, and drawing more exposure to the underground darker side of experimentalism in the field of drum n bass. Earning praise on various drum n bass community websites, as well as sound tracking independent film, engaging in remix activity, handling interviews and articles for print magazines and e-zines; EDGEY continues to help further the scene with positivity for growth.
Stephen Knight, the production mind behind the creation which is EDGEY, is a New York based native, and has been recording in various areas of electronic music for over 10 years, and has since released other works and projects for Ninja Tune Recordings, Digital Hardcore Recordings, Reduced Phat, HANDS Productions, Black Monolith, Industrial Strength Records, plus many others. Live performances primarily across the United States and International venues are all well received and will continue in the future. "If it weren't for the evolution, I think we'd just stagnate in a pool of our own boredom. Progression and experimentation is a big part of my music”, states EDGEY, on the subject of recording and live performances.
Maintaining a distinct persona amidst all the faceless audible art, EDGEY has made himself someone you cannot avoid, but then again, when he's releasing exceptionally produced tunes that sound like no one else, why would you want to?
Since 1999, Iszoloscope has been pushing the abstract conceptualization of
isolation and its induced altered states of consciousness into a powerful,
ominous, and immersive world of dark sonic aesthetic that can be called its very
own. Seamlessly bending stylistic constraints by creating a fusion of
industrial, electro-acoustic, ambient, rhythmic noise, psy-trance and
break-core; this artistic endeavor sets an exceptional standard in hybrid
electronic music.
Establishing itself as an experimental music project in the late nineties on the radiophonic landscape of Ottawa, Canada; Iszoloscope quickly gathered momentum through weekly broadcasts and renditions at local alternative electronic music events. In 2001, Iszoloscope gained world-wide attention performing at the German underground music festival Maschinenfest and releasing its debut album, "Coagulating Wreckage", on Belgium's Spectre Records.
As of Today, Iszoloscope has remixed countless artists, appeared on dozens compilations, produced 4 more full length albums on the European labels Ant-Zen & Spectre ("Aquifère", "Au Seuil du Néant", "Les Gorges Des Limbes", and "The Audient Void") along with several EPs and collaborations on the labels YB-70, Ad Noiseam, and Spectre. Iszoloscope has also executed 5 successful European tours, and a myriad of shows at international events across the planet from Australia to Japan, to Europe and North America.
